Typography-window to the world

Poster
Project description

The project was created for Museum of Typography's 5th international poster contest with title ''Typography, a Window to the World''. Among 530+ posters from 68 countries our poster won the first prize and it was exhibited in the museum for a year.

Typography plays a major role in our daily experiences. Like a window in our world, the word typography is being repeated and then projected on a marble wall, shaping the light that is coming through, bringing typography in our world momentarily. Blending and using analog and digital mediums we wanted to show how type can transform the space around us.

Using a laser cut cardboard with the design, we walked in order to find the place that best expresses our idea. Then waited until the sun was at the right position to take pictures. The additional graphical element was added in the post process, to show the origins of the initial cut shape.

For the T shape the typeface used was Bauer Bodoni customized to fit the 50 x 70 cardboard. For the repeated word typography we used a stencil type to avoid the negative space of the letters being cut.
